You know how wonderful REC Inc is and how great it is to join in the fun. Now we are asking you to spread the word. We have a lot of volunteer and community involvement opportunities. Our newest group involvement opportunity is Wildcats Wiffleball. If you know a person, company or organization who would like to get involved with REC Inc, please have them email or call us!

Basketball For Winners - Come be a member of the Seals Basketball Team. Anyone can play because we adapt the game to our players’ abilities. The Seals play teams like: police & fire departments, various community groups, private companies, and celebrities like Doug McConnell of Bay Area Backroads and Comedian Michael Pritchard.
Dates: Mondays 2008: 1/28 - 3/17 (except 2/18) 4/14 - 6/2 (except 5/26)
Time: 6:40 - 8:00pm
Where: Meet in Rec Dept Office - Larkspur Rec Department, 240 Doherty Drive, Larkspur.
Price: $4 drop in (exact change, please) OR pay for whole session: $24 for the January session & $21 for the April session. FREE to come and watch!!!!!!
3rd Friday Dance - This is an excellent opportunity to meet some new folks, catch up with friends, and have a great time. With the wild music of Ebony Slam by Feeve you’ll want to dance! A different theme every month! August: Beach Party Jamboree!! February: Valentine’s Ball March: Easter Bunny!!!

Movie Night (Offered through the Champions Lions Club) - This program is EXCELLENT for socializing. Only 1.5 hours of this program is spent in the theater. Come join us in the center of the Food Court at the Northgate Mall to meet a gang of friends, see a movie(or not) and grab dinner at the food court or bring a bag dinner. We encourage healthy meal choices. We will be there to help you pick a movie and get to it on time. This program has little to no supervision; you must be able to get your own dinner, to sit through a movie, leave, and meet your transportation without assistance. People choose different movies and it is arranged that no one has to go alone to a show unless they want to.
Dates: STARTING 2008: The First FRIDAY of Every Month (1/4 2/1 3/7 4/4 5/2 6/6)
Time: People can drop in any time between 4:30 - 7:00pm (people often arrive after 5:00)
Where: Northgate Food Court, at the tables in front of Subway, 7000 Northgate Mall, San Rafael. Please arrange to have your ride pick you up outside Food Court)
Price: Prices are set by the theatres - approximately $7 for movies before 6pm and $10 after.
World Beat Dance - We have $1,000 worth of new drums!! Come join us and see what all the noise is about. This class is about the joy of movement and rhythm. It’s a workout for your body and soul. Together, students create and perform basic dances and explore fundamental percussion instruments. This class has been designed for people with developmental disabilities but is open to all. Instructor Karen Carlson is a dance and fitness instructor who has been teaching African-flavored dance in Marin County since 1992.
Dates: Tuesdays, 2008: 1/8 - 2/12, 3/4 - 4/8

The Larkspur Champions Lions Club - Come join a special chapter of this international charitable organization and you can: perform community service, run your own meetings, and visit other Lions Clubs. This club celebrated it’s 10th anniversary last year and was recently featured in an international magazine!
Dates: 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month
Time: 6:00 - 6:30pm optional social time, 6:30 - 7:30pm meeting
Where: Larkspur Rec Department Community Room, 240 Doherty Drive, Larkspur
Price: $50 initial fee to join & $35 for each 6 month membership. Free to visit.
Art Attack Class - Project for 2008: Community Art Garden: A Mosaic Wonderland!
Art Attack is planning a year-long special project; creating mosaic ceramic tile sculptures for permanent installation in the Community Garden at Larkspur! Also, we will be writing, costuming and performing OUR version of an Alice in Wonderland play for the Garden dedication ceremony in November 2008. Learn how to use colorful ceramic tile pieces to create beautiful images in sculpture, stepping stones and even a tiled bench! We will be doing mosaic samples to take home, too. There will be field trips to an art studio to form our Alice in Wonderland concrete statues. Artist/actress Elena Belsky will coordinate and teach the mosaic tile project as well as special event holiday art projects, crafts and gifts. PLUS every night there will be theater games and karaoke. Several projects occur at once giving everyone the opportunity to do what THEY want to do. Classes are ongoing, drop ins welcome! All art materials are supplied.

Weight Watchers - Interested in getting healthy with the support of your friends? Learn the basics of nutrition and getting fit. The teacher is fantastic. She sends postcards, does cooking segments, keeps everyone engaged during classes, and gets Weight Watchers freebies. As a whole everyone is losing weight slowly (as the doctors say they should) and are keeping it off. Please call to verify session dates and times.
Dates: Tuesdays nights, 10 week sessions (session starts TBA...please check with REC Inc. for start dates)
Time: 5 - 6pm

Outdoor Fun & Sports - Come One. . .Come All. . . Karen Carlson and your World Beat Friends have come together to create the Wildcats Wiffleball team. As soon as the weather warms up, the Wildcats will come out to play. The Wildcats face teams from: police & fire departments, private companies, and various community groups.
